Raindrops don’t just fall on roses.

They also fall on many things that aren’t so conventional in their beauty or appeal. This is a large spiny caterpillar, found on a palm frond in the highlands of Uttara Kannada. One of the wettest regions in the world, the area gets over 300 centimetres of rainfall in a year, and much of it in the monsoon months of June to September.
